In preparation for a date…

This week in Goodbye to All That, Will goes to church, does his laundry and buys a pair of shoes. Action takes place on Wednesday evening and during the day on Thursday. His big date is coming up on Friday evening, but while he prepares, he’s spending time thinking about the woman he’d just thrown over for Gwen Martin.

More ado in Magnolia

Today, a double-header.

First on the agenda, two more chapters of Goodbye to all That… in which our former starlet meets Will Chaney’s steady girlfriend..

Second, in honor of what would have been my father’s 94th birthday today (January 12), a story he wrote about a Welsh surveyor’s adventure in the early Ohio country.

By the way, my father shares a birthday with an infamous historical figure. It had been my habit to call my mother on January 12th to mark the occasion for the better part of the past twenty years. The occasion is a family “in” joke. I say a little more about it in the audio portion of my father’s story.

Until next week…

The Date/Reality Bites…

Two more chapters of the novella Goodbye to All That… this week, Will goes on a date with his idol, while feeling compelled to worm his way out of a long-standing date with Jeannie Turner.

Next week, I might just change things up… there’s a short story which appears in The Coin Jar written by my late father. (I may counter with two posts next week)

By the way, in today’s chapters, there is reference to Saving Magnolia.

Be Seeing You!

Goodbye to All That…

As will be explained in this week’s audio introduction, Goodbye to All That is the name of a fictional television program aired in Canada some years ago. It’s also the title of a novella, included in The Coin Jar, a collection of short stories and a pair of novellas – most of them mine (one is a story written by my late father) available through Amazon.com.

Just a note of caution – this week’s reading lasts roughly half an hour. This pilgrim decided to stop the narrative at what seemed an appropriate spot, and was surprised when the appropriate spot came in at thirty minutes and change.

Until next Thursday…

Epiphany – Ending

Here are the last two chapters of Epiphany. Still technically a first draft, but by publishing it in this form, it is protected by Copyright.

Note that I get a little caught up in the emotion toward the end. My apologies in advance.

There are elements which need to be revised in the final version. A second draft will be forthcoming.

Next week – I will start a story published in “The Coin Jar”, featuring an encounter in Magnolia with an obscure television actor… Join me, will you?

Twenty-Six/Twenty-Seven

As I will explain on this week’s reading, Epiphany is finished (first draft, mind you) with just a handful of chapters left to go. This week, two chapters, dealing with Emily’s side of the story. Next week, three chapters, then on December 22nd (two weeks away), the climax and wind-down of the story.

Hopefully you have been enjoying the story so far. Early next year, I will be editing Epiphany and making it available in print.

Twenty-Five

We’ve almost made six months.

Today’s chapter is a little shorter with a few vocal fumbles here and there. As mentioned on the program, I am in the process of writing chapter Twenty-Seven, but not to fear, I will have it in the can, so to speak, along with the already written chapter 28 just before Christmas.

Oh, yes. This week we are catching up with Dan and Beasley, still on the trail at Dolly Sods.
